About the Living Waters, from songwriter and arranger AISHA KAHLIL

Water…how essential for life, none in this human body can go long without it. Our entire planet is mostly water; indeed, we come from water, we are carried by water in the wombs of our Mothers, we are born from water and have our existence in water. Water can comprise up to 75% of our very bodies. How old this planet is no one can truly surmise, but the ancient depths of the Seas hold many mysteries still unfathomed by human intelligence. Mysteries..pure, healing, deep, living, and free. There are, to this day, places on our beautiful planet earth which abound with this life force, carried in the depths of the water which surrounds them. I myself have experienced this as I have traveled to amazingly beautiful places and danced in the Blue Lagoon, swam in rivers that met the Sea, and yes, I have gone chasing waterfalls, and found, to my amazement and delight, some of the richest experiences of my life; waters filled with and charged with such profound, electric energies that have healed and uplifted my total being. This profound gift should be available to all, as our natural birthright. But the state of our water today, on a global scale, is seriously compromised, and deplorably, the water which so many have access to, is not only ineffective at healing and restoring the body, mind and spirit, but is a source of sickness and death for so many. Major causes of this are the pollutants from major industrial plants as well as the disruption of the natural cycles and processes of the oceans due to commercial overfishing. And the greed of large companies to bottle this precious element in plastic bottles and sell it at enormous, ever increasing prices is mind boggling, as the majority of these companies are not even selling pure natural water, but chemically filtered versions that still claim a hefty price. As we celebrate this Earth day, my prayer is that we can all become more aware of the precious gift of pure, life sustaining water, and our own relationship with it. Choosing to identify and spend our money with companies which promote and maintain a green and sustainable future for our Mother Earth is one way to help. And opting for more benevolent products that we use in our everyday homes, yards, gardens and workplaces can go a long way in helping to restore and balance the quality of the waters that we all have to rely upon, as well as securing a future of life and health for our descendants, and for all of humanity. May this amazingly beautiful and wondrous planet Earth, our incredible home, continue to be a habitat for human beings and wildlife alike, as we strive to treat Her with all the love, kindness, and respect that we can each offer within our lifetimes. – Aisha Kahlil, Sweet Honey in the Rock®
