Licensing & Permissions

This page is designed to assist those who wish to obtain a license and/or permission to:

• Duplicate/Perform – If you wish to perform a composition by a member of Sweet Honey, you must contact the composer’s publishing company for a copy of the sheet music, or for permission and/or a license to duplicate a non-published score and/or to perform the music.
• Quote or Reproduce Lyrics and Music – If you wish to quote lyrics, or reproduce any portion of music in a publication, you must contact the composer for permission. Please include a detailed description of your intended use of the material.
• Record a song recorded or performed by Sweet Honey – If you wish to record a Sweet Honey song, you must obtain a mechanical license from the composer or publisher of the song.
• Use Sweet Honey material in a film or video – If you wish a license to synchronize or use Sweet Honey material in a film or video, please send a detailed description of your intended use to the composer’s publishing company. If permission/licensing is granted, you must also obtain permission from the recording label that produced the CD on which the song appears.

How TO SUBMIT A REQUEST:

Below you will find a list of all the recorded songs composed and/or arranged by members of Sweet Honey In The Rock. The list is alphabetical by song title, followed by the composer, affiliation, publisher, CD on which the song appears, and the recording label.

Once you have identified the song(s) you wish to use, use the form below to contact the composer as listed below. Once you have sent your initial inquiry, the composer will contact you directly.
